Josue Tolbert-Nieves

A native of the Bronx, Josue worked as a federal investigator for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission before joining the University of Pittsburgh in 2024. At the EEOC, Josue investigated possible civil-rights violations and assisted federal prosecutors with preparing their cases.

Josue earned a master’s degree in education from Manhattan College (N.Y.) and also attended SUNY Albany and Cochese College (Arizona). Prior to his work with the EEOC, Josue served as an intelligence officer with the 25th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army and worked at the federal Department of Homeland Security. He and his wife live in Pittsburgh.
